Lake Tahoe sweatshirts, hoodies and shirts: a sizing guide
A buying guide to our Lake Tahoe crewneck, hoodie and tees: what each is made of, how they fit side by side, which colors get which ink, and how to wash them.

All five carry the same drawing of the lake's real shoreline, from Emerald Bay to the Crystal Bay notch. The Lake Tahoe crewneck sweatshirt
The Lake Tahoe crewneck is a Gildan 18000 Heavy Blend sweatshirt: 8 oz, half cotton and half polyester, with a ribbed collar and double-stitched seams. It's the one to pull on over a tee for coffee on the deck. If you want a hood and a pocket, the hoodie is the same fabric for $6 more.
Colors: White, Ash, Sand, Light Blue, Sport Grey, Dark Heather, Navy, Maroon, Forest Green and Black.
The Lake Tahoe hoodie
The Lake Tahoe hoodie is the Gildan 18500, the hooded version of the same 8 oz Heavy Blend. It has a double-lined hood with a drawcord that matches the color, and a front pouch pocket. It's the one for the ride back to the dock after sundown.
It comes in the same 10 colors as the crewneck.
Lake Tahoe shirts: classic tee or Comfort Colors
The classic Lake Tahoe tee is a Gildan 5000: 5.3 oz cotton, classic fit, a crew neck and a tear-away label. Fiber content varies by color, so some are a cotton blend. At $24.99 it's the everyday shirt, and the one to buy in fours for a family weekend.
The Lake Tahoe Comfort Colors tee is heavier, at 6.1 oz, in pre-shrunk ring-spun cotton that's dyed after it's sewn. It feels broken in from the first wear and fits relaxed, with no side seams. Its colors are softer too: Ivory, Butter, Bay, Blue Jean, Chambray, Moss and Pepper, plus White, Navy and Black.
For kids, the Lake Tahoe kids tee is a 5.3 oz Gildan 5000B in youth XS to XL, with twill tape on the shoulders, $21.99.

Measured flat, in inches: width across the chest, then length. Sizes can vary by up to 1.5 inches.

What the numbers say:
- The crewneck and hoodie are about 2 inches wider than the classic tee at the same size. Don't size down from your tee size unless you like a close fit.
- The crewneck and hoodie measure almost the same. Pick by hood, not by fit.
- The Comfort Colors tee is about as wide as the classic tee but shorter, by about an inch in S and M and less in bigger sizes.
Made to order, so lay a shirt you already like on this chart before you pick a size. Measure it flat, armpit to armpit, and match the width.
Picking a color
- For the strongest contrast, pick White or Sand for black ink, or Navy or Black for light grey ink.
- For a softer, worn-in look, the Comfort Colors tee's Ivory, Bay and Chambray are lighter and dustier than the classic tee's colors.
- To match a family, the crewneck, hoodie and classic tee share the same 10 colors, so one color can run across all three.
Washing
Turn it inside out, wash cold (86 °F or below) and tumble dry low. Don't iron over the print, and don't dry clean. Non-chlorine bleach is fine on the crewneck and hoodie if you need it.
About the outline
Lake Tahoe straddles California and Nevada, 22 miles long and 12 wide, with 72 miles of shoreline. Our drawing starts from USGS shoreline data and is smoothed in Ringgold, Georgia, just outside Chattanooga: Emerald Bay in the southwest, the Crystal Bay notch up north, with South Lake Tahoe, Tahoe City, Incline Village and Kings Beach around its shore. The Tahoe Keys lagoon channels are left out so the print stays clean. Tahoe people call it Big Blue. Its deepest recorded point is 1,645 feet.

Does the Lake Tahoe sweatshirt run true to size?
The crewneck and hoodie are a classic unisex fit. A size L measures about 24 inches across the chest, laid flat, and 29 inches long. Sizes can vary by up to 1.5 inches. Lay a sweatshirt you already like flat, measure armpit to armpit, and pick the size closest to it.
Is the Lake Tahoe hoodie warmer than the crewneck?
They're the same fabric: 8 oz per square yard, 50% cotton and 50% polyester. The hoodie adds a double-lined hood and a front pouch pocket, so it's the warmer choice on the water after dark. The crewneck has a ribbed collar and costs $6 less.
What colors does the Lake Tahoe sweatshirt come in?
