Accessibility

We want everyone to be able to find their lake and shop Lake Swag, whatever device or assistive technology they use.

What we do

• We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA.
• Every page works with a keyboard, with a visible focus outline and a "Skip to content" link.
• Text and buttons are sized and colored for readable contrast, including text over photos.
• Moving parts (the home page video, the drawing lake outlines and the logo's water) can be paused with one button, and stay still if your device is set to reduce motion.
• The lake map can also be used without a mouse or touch: every lake is reachable through the state buttons and the A to Z list.
• Images have text descriptions, and the cart and menus work with screen readers.

Known limits

The map is a visual overview; the A to Z list and search give the same information as text. Photos from outside photographers are described briefly. Checkout is run by Shopify, which maintains its own accessibility work.
