Questions about Norris Lake
Why does the water level at Norris Lake change?
In a year with normal rainfall, TVA lets Norris Reservoir vary about 29 feet from summer to winter to provide seasonal flood storage.
How big is Norris Lake?
TVA lists 809 miles of shoreline and 33,840 acres of water surface, and calls it the largest reservoir on a tributary of the Tennessee River.
Does the Norris Lake outline include the Powell River arm?
Yes. USGS maps the Powell River arm as a separate unnamed waterbody, so we joined it to the Clinch River arm and Cove Creek to show the whole lake.
