About Spofford Lake
Spofford Lake is in the town of Chesterfield, in the Monadnock Region of southwest New Hampshire. The village of Spofford sits at its outlet, where Partridge Brook carries the water to the Connecticut River. The lake covers about 730 acres, roughly 2 miles long and a mile wide, with Pierce Island, a small wooded state park, a quarter mile off the state boat landing. The town calls it a Class A lake with excellent water clarity, and Ware’s Grove beach is open to the public in summer.
