About Lake Lanier
Lake Lanier, officially Lake Sidney Lanier, is a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers reservoir in the foothills of Georgia’s Blue Ridge Mountains, created when Buford Dam was completed on the Chattahoochee River in 1956 and also fed by the Chestatee River. It spans Hall, Forsyth, Dawson, Gwinnett and Lumpkin counties, with more than 690 miles of shoreline and over 100 small islands. The Corps counts 76 recreation areas and 10 marinas for boating, swimming, camping, hiking and fishing. Our hand-finished Lake Lanier designs follow its real shoreline, arm for arm.
