About Wheeler Lake
Wheeler Lake is the TVA reservoir on the Tennessee River in north Alabama, between Rogersville and Huntsville, reaching from Wheeler Dam up to Guntersville Dam. Wheeler Dam, TVA’s second, was finished in 1936 and helped cover the rocky Muscle Shoals. Decatur is the largest city on the lake and a significant inland port. TVA lists 1,027 miles of shoreline and 67,070 acres. Visitors camp, boat and fish, and the Wheeler National Wildlife Refuge sits upstream of the dam. Our hand-finished design keeps the real shoreline, Elk River arm included.
