About Torch Lake
Torch Lake is in Antrim County, in the northern Lower Peninsula of Michigan, with the community of Eastport at its northern end. It covers about 18,770 acres and runs 19 miles, the longest inland lake in Michigan, and Torch Lake Township says it is about 2 miles wide. The water leaves through the Torch River to Lake Skegemog and Elk Lake, then on to Grand Traverse Bay at Elk Rapids. The Torch Lake Sandbar at the south end is a popular summer stop, and the Torch Conservation Center lists five public beaches around the shore, from the DNR boat launch at Eastport to William Good Day Park.
