About Laurel River Lake
Laurel River Lake lies in Laurel and Whitley counties in southeastern Kentucky, west of Corbin, inside the Daniel Boone National Forest. It filled in 1974, when the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers finished the dam on the Laurel River, a tributary of the Cumberland. The lake covers about 5,600 acres and runs about 19 miles, with 206 miles of shoreline. The Forest Service calls it one of the deepest and cleanest lakes in Kentucky, with marinas at Holly Bay and Grove. Around Corbin it often goes by Laurel Lake.
