About Lake Powell
Lake Powell is the Colorado River reservoir behind Glen Canyon Dam, mostly in southern Utah with a small part in northern Arizona, inside the National Park Service’s Glen Canyon National Recreation Area. At full pool it runs 186 miles with 1,960 miles of shoreline and more than 96 major side canyons; in September 2024 it sat about 123 feet below full. Visitors boat, kayak the side canyons and fish from the shore.
