About Lake Allatoona
Lake Allatoona, officially Allatoona Lake, is a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers reservoir on the Etowah River about 30 miles from Atlanta, near Cartersville and Acworth. Impoundment began in December 1949, and the lake was in full operation by January 1950. With 270 miles of shoreline, 589 campsites, eight commercial marinas and Red Top Mountain State Park, it draws nearly 7 million visitors a year, making it one of the Corps' most frequently visited lakes. Our designs are hand-finished from its real shoreline, Etowah and Little River arms included.
